Chocolate-Free Chocolate Brownies

If you're like me, you probably live in a household where any chocolate gets devoured as soon as it passes the threshold. This makes cooking chocolate cake problematic since so many call for chocolate but all you want to do is bake without needing a grocery run beforehand.

This Donna Hay recipe is a personal favourite and I have used it many, many times during exam block to procrastinate and get my chocolate fix.

Ingredients:

  • 150g melted butter

  • 1 1/4 cups caster sugar

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 eggs

  • 1/2 cup plain flour

1. Preheat oven to 160C (325F).

2. Melt butter in microwave in large bowl and add sugar and cocoa.

3. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined.

4. Sift flour over mixture and mix.

5. Spoon mixture into cake/brownie tin and cook for 30-35 min.

6. Serve with vanilla ice-cream.
